Eleven year old Mesa Leavitt isn’t old enough to drive, but that didn’t keep her from setting her sites on the winner’s prize of a new Dodge dually diesel crew cab truck. The 2006 Barrelnanza Finals capped off World Barrel Racing Production’s season at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma November 8th -12th where over 2600 entries vied for six Dodge trucks and more than $650,000 in payout, making the event the world’s largest barrel race. Mesa Leavitt set the unbeatable time of 15.371 for the win.

Mesa Leavitt continued her incredibly successful season with the win at Barrelnanza on her horse Junior’s Genuine Doc. Mesa, the daughter of Drs. Richard and Heidi Leavitt of Bluegrass, IA, is the current leader in IPRA national standings.

She is also the NBHA Great Lakes National Champion, Reserve Champion at the recent NBHA 2006 Finals in Augusta, GA, Congress Champion 2005 and 2nd and 3rd for 2006 Congress Sweepstakes, the Josey Junior World Champion for 2005 and 2006, and the All American Youth World Champion.

Mesa has turned in times under the 15 second mark on several occasions. A blistering 14.716 was recorded for the win at the Rockies Race For Cash in Gifford, IL and had a 14.863 in the final go of the 2006 Congress Sweepstakes. Mesa is not only the leader in the standings for IPRA, she is in place to receive the Rookie Of The Year Award in the organization.

Also up and coming is Mesa’s sister, Shiloh, age 8, who lists among her wins the 2006 Little Britches Little Wrangler Division World Championship.
